Welcome to the new (and final) site
| This site has had it's ups and downs, but finally after some extensive thinking and mulling over, I decided that the best thing would to be to 'go back' (even though it's just as good) to the original style site.
The basic reason for this change was that I was used to the old style, and the new Mambo stuff that was being used for the last version was a pain in the ****. So there you go!! |

Cardiff harbour authority is running their Second Canoe Festival in Cardiff Bay.
The festival will cover all aspects of the sport with a strong trade presence and the authority would like freestyle to be a part of the weekend.
As yet Cardiff still has no white water facilities however the Harbour Authority has commissioned a Freestyle Ramp to pull moves from. The Ramp itself will be placed in the heart of the bay in full view of the public. This is a good opportunity to show off some freestyle moves and there may be some cash prises confirmed soon.
Note: once again from UK freestyle...

An initial selection event for a GB squad will take place on the 14th/15th
October 2006 at Holme Pierrepont. The squad will consist of greater numbers
of paddlers in each discipline than will be selected for the team (approx.
twice the number - although exact numbers have not been decided yet).

This year the Youth Freestyle Series is even bigger and better than last year with more prizes, more coaching and it’s more than just freestyle!
The Youth Freestyle Series consists of 5 paddling events across the UK. The main focus of the events is fun freestyle competition, but there is also free coaching available on freestyle, river awareness and safety (there are limited places available for coaching so you will need to book early for this). This year there is also a boater X event (where sites allow) where paddlers will race head to head down the river.
The event is open to all progressing white-water paddlers aged 18 and under (age at 1st Jan 2006).
Events
8th April 2006 – Llangollen
3rd June 2006 – Nene
16th July 2006 – Teeside
22nd July 2006 – Boulters
2nd September 2006 – Series Final, Nottingham

So, I've just started my new Degree in Outdoor srudies here at St. Martins College (formerly the Charlotte Mason Teaching College) in Ambleside, at the north end of lake Windemere.
This is one of the prime locations in the UK for paddling activities- with over 200 rivers about the area to play on and explore!
For your information I'm having the time of my life!!
I'm sure that if you are here at St. Martins with me that you'll be havin a good time too- and thats the idea really, isn't it? So there you go- enjoy the site!

The system of qualifications for the coaching of Paddlesports is agreed jointly by the four Associations' Coaching Panels that make up BCU Coaching UK – the Canoe Association of Northern Ireland, the Scottish Canoe Association, the Welsh Canoe Association and the English Coaching Panel.
Achieving an award is straight forward. However, Paddlesport is a diverse sport, and the wide range of tests and qualifications needed to service its many different facets can make things appear complicated. All is explained, however, in the following pages and as such you are advised to read carefully the various syllabi and procedures required to achieve your goal.
Note: How to become a coach is also in our downloads section as a PDF.

Well, as you can all probably tell, it's nearly the time of year that we get out on the rivers, and also get out the thermals!
If there's any sort of event that is worth going to, then please add it to the events list on here. Also, if you want to organise an event, then feel free to add the event to our listings.
As we are going into the Autumnal part of the year, there is more and more water in the rivers- lets use it!! So- a good start to warm everyone up for the season is Llangollen (Nomads>Eddylines>whatever you want to call it

25th to 26th June 2005
The Cheshire Ring race is a 96 mile race or challenge along the 6 canals of the Cheshire Ring. This can be paddled “all the way” in singles or doubles or as a relay. The favourite relay format is for ten paddlers in a double tourer or K2, with each pair being a senior and a lady or junior, but we can accommodate any reasonable relay format. Good times for the tourer relay are around 21 hours with most aiming to finish in less than 24 hours. The K1 all the way record is 18 hours 14 minutes.
